Chocolate Banana and Pretzel Parfaits

These chocolate banana parfaits make for a perfect family-friendly dessert. The bananas, pretzels, and whipped cream perfectly complement our recipe for homemade chocolate pudding, which can be a quick and easy, stand-alone dessert.

2½ cups Chocolate Pudding, or best-quality store-bought chocolate pudding

1 cup mini pretzel twists or sticks, plus more for garnish

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar

¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 large banana, or 2 small bananas, cut into ½-inch rounds

Chocolate shavings, for garnish, optional

  1. Place the pretzels in a resealable bag or food processor. If you are using a bag, place it on a work surface and break up the pretzels with the bottom of a heavy pot or a meat mallet. If you are using a food processor, pulse into small pieces.
  2. Add the cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. Whip until the cream holds soft peaks.
  3. Using 10 (6-ounce) glasses or small jars, spoon about 2 tablespoons of pudding to the bottom of each. Sprinkle a layer of pretzels crumbs on top of the pudding, and place 4 to 5 slices of banana on top of the crumbs in a single layer. Top with more pudding and whipped cream. Garnish with a piece of sliced banana, pretzels, and if you wish, chocolate shavings.
