You can buy sweetened shredded coconut pre-toasted, but it can be difficult to get, and it’s easy to make your own. This recipe calls for 1 cup of shredded coconut, but it will multiply easily.
1 cup shredded coconut, or sweetened shredded coconut (see Kitchen TIps)
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Scatter shredded coconut evenly on a rimmed baking sheet.
- Bake, mixing every 3 minutes until lightly browned, for a total of 9 minutes, watching very carefully to make sure that it does not burn.
Note that sweetened coconut will toast a little faster than unsweetened, so adjust the timing accordingly.
